Stoneware gaiwan with lid, 2 cups and saucer. Lidded bowl with strainer and pouring spout, traditionally used to infuse tea leaves. The gaiwan is compact enough to be comfortably held in one hand and used to pour. Perfect for brewing green, white or jasmine tea.

Each piece is made from stoneware clay and the body of the cups and gaiwan has a textured surface a lightly speckled, semi-matte dolomite glaze on the interior and wax resisted abstract marks through black oxide upon the exterior.

The cups can be stored within the gaiwan when not in use or for carrying into nature.

This gaiwan holds at least 240g or 8oz. Each cup holds 55g or 2oz, allowing you to share tea with a friend and refill the two cups twice. Everything is thrown on my Shimpo wheel using grogged stoneware clay. . All my work is made in my garden studio in Brighton.

Hand wash is recommended to prolong use, although all my products are dishwasher and microwave safe.
