Description

Stoneware mug made using the kurinuki process. Kurinuki is the process of carving clay away from a form over several days, until a mug shape is revealed. A coil handle is then added to the form. The mug has exterior oxide and wax resist marks with a light speckling of iron coming through the dolomite glazed interior. There is an irregularity and simplicity to these carved mugs and they elevate and enhance the simple ritual of drinking tea and coffee.

These mugs hold approx 170g or 6oz of liquid. All my work is made in my garden studio in Brighton. The mug surfaces are covered in a dolomite/ash glaze. Pattern or wax resisted marks are added, all of which are unique.

The mugs shown in the image may not necessarily be the mug you receive, although marks are similar.

Hand wash is recommended to prolong use, although all my products are dishwasher and microwave safe.
